CADRA® 18 Released

SofTech is pleased to provide you with this Cadra Release.  This release upgrades the Windows user interface, adds support for the Unicode text using the Text Input and Edit dialog and upgrades the support for AutoCAD and SolidWorks.  This document will briefly review the new features and changes to Cadra.  A summary of the installation process is also included toward the end of the document.  The enhancements include:

Enhancements/Features:
  • Upgraded the Windows user interface.
  • Added support for Unicode (multi-language) text.
  • Added support for Flexera FlexNet 11.7. 
  • Added the ability to license new Add-on features.
  • Added some new entity support to the AutoCAD translator.
  • AutoLoad Text Font dialog changes.
  • Added support for reading AutoCAD 2009 and 2010 file formats.
  • CadraWorks now supports SolidWorks 2009 SP0 and Solidworks 2010 SP0.
  • The Text May Scale and May Rotate settings can now be saved.
  • The Info Command now reports entity color.
  • Virtual Machine licenses.
  • Added support for Windows 7 (32-bit).

All users must get a new license to run Cadra 18.
Note that Cadra 18 will be the last Cadra release to support Windows 2000.

Upgrade

There are two ways to upgrade:

  1. Use the Online Form to upgrade.
  2. Or the License Upgrade Request Form, this form must be filed out and faxed to our license department. Once we receive your host id’s we will ship you your new Product Authorization Licenses and the Cadra CD.

CADRA® EDM

Keeping control over your drawing documents is always a challenge. CADRA® EDM is a unique system that handles the engineering document management control problems with an eloquent simplicity. Giving you control of your documents and their workflow, without requiring a large ongoing investment of time and money.

What do you get with CADRA EDM?

  • A workflow oriented check in/check out system that gives you control over revisions and concurrent usage
  • A tight integration with CADRA that gives you the ability to read and update title block data, revision blocks, and Bill of Material data
  • A drawing viewer that allows CADRA users to quickly retrieve drawings and allows non-CADRA users to view and plot drawings
  • Bulk loading utilities, which find and read the title block data on existing drawings. These utilities allow you to use the power of CADRA EDM with your existing drawings without manual data entry of the title block information.
  • New features like Automatic updating that allows a change in revision level, status, or BOM usage to propagate through project/assembly structure updating the title blocks on the affected drawings

We are continuing to work on giving you more choices in supported databases and features that will allow you to better handle various engineering documents. You can expect the following enhancements in our future releases of CADRA EDM:

  • Support for Microsoft® SQL Server, in addition to our current support for Oracle®
  • Support for SolidWorks® documents
  • More support for Non-CADRA documents including more icon types and the ability to store revision information
  • Productivity improvements including enhancing the ability to copy projects
